Winter Coaching Project
In the Winter of 2010-11, KEI Kashmir successfully conducted winter coaching sessions for students of 8th, 9th, and 10th grades in the University of Kashmir campus. Highly qualified teachers and instructors were recruited to deliver high-impact coaching for two months. Graduates as well as teachers were very satisfied with the results. The goal of this project was to make up for the time lost during the 2010 summer turmoil and as such was discontinued afterwards.
In the academic year 2007-2008, KEI sponsored the tuition of 19 meritorious, but financially deserving children in Kashmir, India. After the students completed a full year of studies, KEI reviewed the results of these students and the impact of this project to determine further action. KEI decided to extend this program to more children as well as offer other resources besides tuition such as computers, books, coaching & counseling, etc to the selected students. This succesful pilot was officially converted into the High School Scholarship program.
KEI has organized expert lectures at the University of Kashmir, Government Medical College and National Institute of Technology - all located in the valley of Kashmir. These lectures are delivered by members or guests of KEI who are experts in specialized fields like Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence and Circuit Design etc. This provided the students with an opportunity to interact with experts in different disciplines and with exposure to the cutting edge research carried out in different parts of the world. The format encourages students to think deep, ask questions, and explore new ideas, which allows for additional growth and development and provides the college graduates exposure to various research opportunities. These lectures have been well received and we plan to extend the scope of these further.
