Gooru Navigator Program

Gooru Navigator for Learners is a GPS for learning. It accurately locates the learner's knowledge, skills, and mindsets and then constructs a personalized path to reach their learning goals. Each step of the way provides GPS-like guidance. KEI collaborated with (GPF) in the year 2020 for developing content for Grade 9th and 10th scholars with reference to NCERT. The App supports KEI scholars through a blend of onsite and online learning with particular emphasis on self-driven learning and assessment.

KEI believes that the Covid-19 disruption coupled with the decade-long conflict, and the additional disruptive changes wrought by technological advances in the “Idea economy”, is hastening the need for education’s digital transformation. KEI has, therefore, undertaken a strategic effort to prepare its scholars for this rapidly evolving landscape by recognizing that their learning needs will be dramatically different from the learning needs of today. A futuristic educational paradigm will involve a blend of onsite and online learning with particular emphasis on self-driven learning and assessment.

KEI, therefore, is in the process of implementing its own “Smart Digital Learning Ecosystem”. This end-to-end ecosystem comprises content, community, technology, and instruction and provides access to offline and online “Content” via  Gooru’s GPS Learning Navigator.

KEI believes in the construct of education as a fundamental human right. We endeavor to democratize education, one scholar at a time. A thorough implementation of our learning ecosystem will ensure that our talented scholars and others in Kashmir, can compete on an equal footing with their peers around the world for the demands of the world of tomorrow.

We see the implementation of the GPS Learning Navigator as an integral component of our SMART DLE and  fulfilling multiple objectives within that:

  • In a world, that  increasingly emphasizes a blend of self-learning and online instruction, it transfers the agency of learning to the learner by providing a roadmap based on milestones

  • Our instructors are provided with assessment metrics on the performance of their learners and allowed to curate learning maps and experiences based on individual pathways.

  • It democratizes the process of learning by alleviating the deleterious impact of information and resource asymmetry  that exists between well-resourced learners and institutions and their less fortunate counterparts

  • Perhaps most importantly, it accouters young learners in the developing world with metrics-driven competencies and skill sets that provide them with strong foundational skills for the workplace of tomorrow.

  • All of the above factors attain greater significance when viewed within the prism of a conflict-ridden region like Kashmir and others like it, where education tends to be the primary casualty of the conflict, more often than not.

Presently, over 200 scholars actively engage on the platform, and over the past three years, more than 600 scholars have derived benefit from this GPS learning platform, acquiring nearly 70,000 competencies in the process.
